Teach students how to use Apple-native visibility levers outside static metadata and product pages.

Why this module exists

Events and featuring are how ASO buys earned visibility.

In-App Events and editorial featuring sit slightly outside the metadata loop, but they shape what the App Store surfaces beyond search. Good In-App Events are usually misunderstood as marketing tiles; the lesson reframes them as time-bound moments inside the product, which is when they actually perform.

Event metadata and creative treats event copy and creative as their own discipline. Featuring nominations is more probabilistic, but the nomination patterns are not random: editors look for current themes, visible craft, and a story they can tell on a tile. The seasonal and launch calendars lesson ties the rest of the module into a planning rhythm rather than a series of one-off pitches.

Lessons

Key insights

Many teams ignore In-App Events even though they are one of the few Apple-native discoverability levers outside static metadata.

Featuring is partly a storytelling discipline, not just a product quality outcome.

Nomination material should be prepared before launch week, not during it.

Apply this module

The lessons above are written to be useful in order, but the work compounds when each one ends with a small concrete output: a written decision, a renamed field, a new entry in the keyword bank. Use the prompts below as the bare minimum the team should leave this module with.

Understand what makes a strong In-App Event.

Design event metadata and visuals.

Prepare featuring nominations.

Build a seasonal roadmap.
